Dissapointed with the iPhone 5

But at least you get 24 months of minutes and calls and internet allowance for that price? If you just buy the handset you then have to sort out a contract on top unless i'm missing something?

With something like GiffGaff which is from £10pm and effectively works like a contract, you get pretty much the same if not better allowances anyway.

Sim-Free plus the freedom to change to whoever you like, when you like, wins every time IMO.

AH: £729.99 on a phone.
Either your a can short of a six pack, or your paid too much.:D

I got the 16gb black, paid £529, bought 2 and sold one to a guy at work for £570

Meaning I paid £488

I'm got a new 4S, boxed, receipt etc that I will get zagg screen covers on. Going to sell that to my dad for £300 (could get around £380 on ebay)

Meaning I paid £188 for the upgrade

Not too bad really

Still a lot of money for a mobile

Personally i think people are stupid spending £700 (or more) on a graphics card just so they can play games at 5000fps or something. Just for the card to be worth £200 6 months down the line

I would rather pay £520 for a 4S and sell it on a year later for £400

If I keep the ip5 in good condition then im sure it will still be worth £400 this time next year

edit - just noticed your username 'koolpc' No doubt you spent £100s on watercooling equipment so you can have a lower cpu temperature and silent machine instead of a £20 quiet fan

£730 on a phone

It's for the superior build quality and material quality, of course! :o :p

It's funny those who question the price yet their 18/24th month contracts probably surpasses the amount :p

They often do, but I think a lot of people forget that they're getting a service plan along with that. You can only do so much with a phone without a service plan of some kind, especially smartphones.

in my country first iPhone was sold for 7777 Gel

its equal to 2890 pounds

now in shop it cost 2777 GEL only 16gb version

it equal to 1030 pounds which in UK only costs 530 pounds

and they sold already 300 hundred just in one day they would sell more but they had only 300

and also every black iPhone had marks scratches on it or some burned edges

sold here already 2 iPhones for 850 pounds got it in uk for 530 pounds :D

what i don't understand why apple isn't opening shop in Georgia cause if they will open shop here they will sell 500 000 iPhone in one day :D

people are just crazy yes i have one 32gb but after i sold 2 iphone its just free plus 400 pounds in my pocket thanks apple for not opening shop in my country :D

hope they wont open it in near future :D

i have another good business so dont like idea to rape people

someday they will be arrested

we have election now after 4 days and dictator saakashvili will be arrested soon

I've never felt less compelled to upgrade to the latest iPhone.

Apple are replacing my 32gb 4S for a brand new model next week (still in warranty) and I was going to chuck it on eBay and buy the 5 but it offers nothing more than the 4S other than a larger screen. It would cost me £250 I reckon.

Also meant to ask: Do Apple not have a limit on how many iPhones you can buy? What's to stop someone queing up and buying 10 and selling them all on at a massive profit. Surely they've restricted it to one per person yet some of you seem to have picked up two at a time.

I love the people that say its a 4s with a bigger screen (just because they cant afford an iphone 5)

It has a different processor, better front camera, better video recording, better speaker, better battery, lighter, better colours and the more important thing - the new lightening 8 pin connector which means the phone now has a digital connection instead of analogue.

All devices will eventually move to this new 8 pin connection (saying this based on the cost to apple incurred for changed to 8pin from 30 pin)

+ 1

Could not have put it better myself! Coming straight from my 4s i could not go back now!

And a better back ops maybe not

i have come from the 4... i think its great.

not a mark on it either. i think its a great bit of kit.

still annoyed i need to get adapters or new chargers everywhere but such is the price of making everything smaller / thinner / lighter.

Better processor - It's a phone not a gaming rig or something I want to render Toy Story 3 on. The 4S is rapid at everything I want a phone to do.

Front Camera - Who ever uses this anyway, plus the one on the 4S is perfectly adequate for functionality like Skype/Facetime.

Better Video Recording - Again the 1080p HD recording of the 4/4S is fantastic already. In fact the camera on the 4S is pretty damn good for a phone. I can't imagine it being much better without venturing into dedicated compact camera territory. In fact I've just been in Thailand and some of the pictures my gf took on her iPhone 4 were as sharp/clear as those I took on my Nikon J1 which is a dedicated mirror-less compact SLR-substitute.

Better Speaker - A phone speaker is always going to sound tinny and shoddy.

Better Battery - Now you've touched on a relevant point, it may be better but it's not anything to get excited about. If it was some awesome battery that lasted days on end then yes, a major point.

Better Screen - Yes it's bigger and more vibrant but it's nothing compared to the jump from the 3GS to the Retina display on the 4 which was groundbreaking. The screen on the 4S is still brilliant.

Lightning - I appreciate it is needed for the future but being digital instead of analogue has little implication for the everyday user right now.

There's just nothing ground breaking about it. It's just slightly 'better' in some departments. I have no problem with people who want to upgrade to have 'the latest and greatest' but I'm sick of hearing people go on about how great it is. Guess what, it ain't.

I'll ignore the chip about being able to afford it.

I love people who assume anyone who doesn't want an iPhone simply can't afford one.

I can afford an iPhone 5 without even thinking about it - I just don't want one. I don't dispute the many improvements over the 4S, no matter how "minor", just none of them really appeal to me.

With regards to the major differences, I don't need a bigger screen nor do I want a bigger phone. I don't like the all-black design and prefer the design of the 4/4S. I like the weight of my 4S and think the 5 feels too light. I prefer the glass back of my 4S and think the anodised aluminium of the iPhone 5's feels worse in the hand and marks more easily. Finally, whilst I appreciate the reasons for changing the connector, it's pure hassle right now when all my other Apple devices use the older connector and I'd have to buy new cables and accessories, none of which are available yet.

If I wanted one, I'd buy one, but I don't so I won't. Usually when a new model of an Apple device I own is released, I hanker after it and want it as soon as possible, but with the 5 I feel no urge nor desire to own one whatsoever.
