Hi - does anyone know, on a MkII diesel focus, roughly how many litres of fuel will be in the tank when the 'distance to empty' guage says 0 miles?

On old diesel engines running out of fuel used to cause serious engine problems. I know on modern VW diesels that it can automatically rectify the issue but have Ford Engineered that in too?

Thanks,

Sam

I miss my old VW that the fuel light would come on when there were exactly 2 gallons in the tank. It didn't have a distance to empty but it did have a trip computer with average MPG. The audible 2 gallon fuel light would come on. Reset the odometer to 0, reset the MPG to 0. When odometer reads twice MPG, I knew I had 0 fuel. It used to do well over 50mpg so I could get over 100 miles after the light came on. It was 100% accurate, I ran until I calculated that I had about 5 miles left once and the capacity of the tank was meant to be 55 litres, the fuel nozzle clicked once, left the fuel to settle, then put the rest in and I got 55.01 litres in total!

It sounds petty but when running between Edinburgh and Southampton at fairly high speed you want as much range as possible!
