Yep Yep Yep, my trusty old P5N-E SLI has beeen put in with some of the girlfriends kit.

-Q6600
-4Gb Crucial Ballistix
-560ti 448.

Basically her motherboard was giving her blue screens and all sorts of hassle, was an OEM board, so thought my P5N-E SLI would do the trick since it has worked for years without problems.

I built the new machine in an Aerocool case.

Now this is the issue, I noticed when running the Heaven DX11 benchmark, the sound is all distorted. So i tried the back panel audio jacks directly from the motherboard. Exactly the same. Then i tried in my macbook, sound was perfect.

What gives? :(

Are you using the proper drivers not just the ones with windows 7? Check audio the chipset and download the most recent driver set from Asus or failing that realtek themselves

I have had some sound distortion with my PC when I installed a new motherboard. In the end I turned off all the power saving options and some of the stepping and then the sound popping dissappeared. However when I enabled these again it was no longer present...

So it is worth turning off some of the sleep/power saving options to see if this makes a difference, other than that it is a tricky one! Worth trying a PCI sound card. Might be a conflict of some sort - check the link below -

This might cause the sound distortion you mention! Oh as well, is the sound distorted just during that benchmark or all the time?
