Ditch BT for Plusnet for FTTC?

I'm moving home in a few weeks.

BT want £130 for installation, or get it free but I get tied into an 18 month contract.

Or go with Plusnet, who want £50 installation.

Difference is the price.

BT costs just under £50 a month. Plusnet would cost £23.98 IIRC for six months then £33.98 after that. I haven't called them to see about perhaps waiving the installation fees or negotiating any deals. BT aren't interested.

I would have to pay BT £107 to end my contract early as it's currently running till October.

Total with Plusnet would be £709.
Total with BT would be £900

Both over 18 months assuming I extend my BT contract. Also includes all fees. I've rounded up slightly.

So Plusnet would save me money. Would it give me better service/routing etc?

BT checker says I won't get over 40Mb due to length of the line.

That is with a phone?

What is their routing like compared to BT and do they suffer any congestion? What is their CS like?

I can't seem to get it without that fee? Just tried again, phone and fibre, £50 fee.

Maybe it's that there's no current phone line at the new house?

So KIA you'd say it's worth it besides the (small) financial advantage? How bad is their congestion? And do they throttle P2P/Usenet at all?
