We have been with BT for donkeys years, with very few issues at all on the hardware/connection side.

Customer service and billing is another story with me having to ring em every 18 months or so to sort out yet another billing error that should have been resolved. Anyway they've cocked up again pushing my bill up to full price because they said I had come to the end of the 12 month contract, even though after 30+ mins on the phone they held their hand up to me being sold an 18 month contract anyway. To cap it off they admitted they couldn't offer me as good a deal as a new customer (Been with them 25+ years)

Anyway I rang PlusNet, got through almost instantly and chap could not be more helpful, in addition to being a fair bit cheaper.

Question is how is their service/reliability? Better, worse or just on-par with everyone else?

I forgot to ask them, but can I retain and use my BT Hub5??

Cheers.

Cheers just thought I'd ask. I'm sure like most things there will be a range of opinions. Even with only one telephone conversation under my belt customer service seems way better than BT. I'm just a bit of a dinosaur and probably don't switch providers enough, which has become the way of the world.

If no one shouts up anything disastrous, I'll pull the trigger and do the switch. Show stopper would be not being able to retain our current telephone number.

Are there email servers OK. Never gave it a thought, virtually every email I have is with BT. I assume I can copy/import them over???

Either keep using Your BT address or create something portable on outlook.com (or the free provider of your choice).

Having your email with an ISP makes changing ISPs a hassle.

Aye, I'm going to end up just importing what I can or fowarding my entire inbox to PlusNet..

Nevermind, as they say you live and learn. I've been with BT for so long I just forgot what a pain it would be.

Thanks for the comments all ;):):)

Personally I can't fault Plusnet. Had 1x line issue (not their fault), which was quickly sorted by using their Live Chat, they booked an 'engineer' to visit after doing a line test and he fixed an issue in my cab.

The manager from BT who rang me last evening, actually said "you'll be absolutely fine with PlusNet. They are a good company, they use our infrastructure anyway"
