Install MPC-HC
http://www.xvidvideo.ru/media-player-classic-home-cinema-x86-x64
Click the most recent version, then scroll down to the 'BE Mod'
Choose either the 64bit or x86(32bit) installer.
Also, you need to update DX9 for it, google 'dxwebsetup' and run that

Remove DivX bloat and install http://mpc-hc.sourceforge.net/
Uninstall the DivX package you downloaded. Make sure all of it's related crud is removed. Reboot.
Download and try MPC-HC as suggested above. Try it on it's own first, i.e. don't install a pile of codecs.
If this doesn't work try VLC.
If this doesn't work then install the CCCP codec pack and use MPC-HC in conjunction with these codecs.
