Ad banned by the ASA for showing a black man in a negative light. Seemingly saying black men can only be shown in a positive light now, even though some of them do bad things. Does this apply to other races? Can't help but think it seems to be an absolutely nonsensical decision based on a single complaint.

That's on the same day as this as well...

An ad that was clearly a humorous take on a fabricated situation.

Would you just ignore them?

BBC's rubbish for not showing the picture/video it's talking about. Stop paying for them to waste everyone's time.

Happened to see the Call of Duty advert earlier, they deserve what they got.

Last time I was in UK in December every single advert on TV had a black person in a domestic relationship with a white person so this just seems absolutely like the normal demographic they always wanted to promote to British people?

Maybe they were on the bus in Brixton or Peckham and we're trying to indicate they were the only 2 white people stupid enough to live in the neighborhood?

Who knows.. racism I guess....

This has been done many times before in here. Do we wait until it gets out of hand, like has happened every single time before, or just close it now?

I can't see any threads about the interesting decisions of the ASA.

Does that mean we got to take it to SC? :D

Only joking wonderful admin team, too soon? Sorry!

It's a turf war on a global scale,
I'd rather hear both sides of the tale.

The ASA said the advert depicted a black boy verbally harassing a white girl, and although another white boy appeared in the clip, "the ad did not show him as jointly intimidating the victim" and "the only aggressor in the ad was the black teenage boy".

The advert was one of three short social media videos taken from a two minute film.

The other versions showed a white male committing a hate crime against a black woman, and a white male committing a hate crime against another white male.

I fixed it. The ASA should stop seeing racism where it does not exist.

This stuff is getting out of control here. Our media is starting to sound like the US where they cannot possibly describe someone without referencing their skin colour.

I'm so sick of public TV because every show is just filed with multi racial relationships, transgenders and gays/lesbians

Odd BBC Article.
Its Facebook advert showed a black teenage boy who verbally harassed a white girl on a bus, while another white teenage boy sat close beside her and boxed her in.
TfL claimed that an average Facebook user would have typically been shown a mixture of the three adverts approximately three times, and estimated that the chance someone was only shown the cut down at the centre of the complaint was about 2%.

How they can have totally different views of the same video is odd

any tv - don't forget public tv like the netflix bs of Bridgerton, perhaps it's a parody though that GenZ didn't get.

but yes too many adverts stereotyping coloured people as low intelligence (motorway one being a current case in point)

Misses is from Belguim, and wonders why British adverts are so weird for pushing this. She can't wrap her head round it.

So it is a very British thing it seems.

Because they get moved to the home for threads that have gone so far down the hole that they can’t be recovered.
