Hey folks so as title says ive decided to build my 1st rig, always went pre build before but since reading these forums ive been inspired to build my own tower and trying to save money at the same time lol, ive seen through these forums people having good success and thought what the hell al give it a try, its great recieving a pre built rig but i want a project over the nxt couple of weeks to get me into building so im looking for some built and compatibility options from you guys :) help me spend my £500 ish bonus from work lol the main rig is for gaming and playing dirt 2, codmw2, and other newer releases, i know i want the most upgradable rig for tweeking with in the future like just having a single gpu to start with but with enough spec to upgrade to 2 gpus in the future either sli or xfire, am open to either suggestion as ive used nvidia and ati before but they were in pre built rigs. also looking for a power supply to start with that will allow me to run 2 cards further down the line. im looking for a new motherboard that will allow me the most options when upgrading cpu power later on as well, like swapping over cpus that wont mean changing lots of other components if thats possible? thanks for any options you good guys in the know come up with, also looking to purchase the parts before xmas so im kept busy over ma xmas hols ..........

p.s. forgot to say i will be gaming at 1920x1080 plus got mouse/keyboard so just a spec for the rig pls

Thanks for the build idea m8, would all of these parts go together without any hassle, really will be a learning curve so need things to be as easy as possible lol, i take it all of these parts come with instructions like plug this here put that there lol, quite a daunting prospect but looking forward to it lol

Thanks, i will do some reading so am ready lol also if i bought 2 of these gpu cards would it just be a matter of plug and play? the last card i had was a bfg 8800gtx, how does a single one of those compare to the newer card? thanks again......

Do you have any components that could be salvaged from the current machine? Case / optical drive / hard drive are the obvious ones, but if you've got an 8800gtx then overclocked 8800gtx sli is an option.

The current pc has been given to a family member as theres is so out of date lol this will be my only rig in the house as we have a laptop for surfin :) the 8800gtx was a good card as i bought that system when the card was just out so was top draw performance wise, just wanted to see how it would have done compared to the new one in the build list just hoping the new card can run the newer games at 1920x1080, if not would 2 of them make a good hit performance wise?

so to clear things up i should change the gpu and hard drive from the original spec sheet, i have no idea of performance from those 2 cards lol so just having to go on recommendations really :confused: which would be best for gaming at my res? i will prob run in xfire further down the line just need the best one to start with, going to order the parts tomoz so any other info would be appreciated, also i have a copy of windows 7 so sorted there :)

Thanks for the help guys much appreciated, just completing ma basket now but the memory is out of stock, any other compatible alternatives i could use that are recommended? also would that psu be able to run 2 5770 gpus down the line with the rest of the system?
