Hi all,

I've braided cables in the past on my existing PSUs rather than buying pre made ones but this time I'm going to go full custom and buy the wire, connectors and terminals as it's nothing I haven't done before, just first time on a PC power supply.

However, when it comes to my 3090 FE it uses a different standard of connector to the usual molex mini fit jr.

Can someone please confirm I am looking at the correct parts here as I've struggled to find any useful info on Google.

Many thanks in advance

Pretty sure the cable end has always been a 6x2 Micro-Fit 3.0; a lot of the technical docs shown when the tech press reported on the 12-pin showed identical dimensions and keying pattern to Micro-Fit 3.0. Certainly some AliExpress sellers list them as Micro-Fit 3.0 and the pictures match the keying on Astron's technical drawing (Molex's spec document uses a 2x4 housing so you can't tell what the keying pattern is for a 6x2). There's potentially also the TE Connectivity Micro MATE N LOCK 1-794617-2.

I'd also suggest that since Astron don't have a mated housing for their PCB connector (as far as I can see), it's designed to work with Micro-Fit 3.0 and Micro MATE N LOCK.

I've noticed people's issues with the Micro-Fit "not working" is actually the wire gauge and sleeving; everybody's doing the usual 18AWG wire with standard MDPC-X/Telios PET sleeving and it's too thick, and that's equated to Micro-Fit not being correct. Pretty sure Nvidia's adapters are actually 20AWG wire, and there are other sleeving brands that have smaller sizes that MDPC-X's "small" XTC (or Paracord 325 which I use for slimmer wires).

Interesting... Thank you for this. I had spoken to MDPC about if they'll provide the 12 pin connectors with suitable crimps. They think around the end of July so I'll keep an eye out.
