hi,

my current server which has all my music / photos / films etc is just about coming to the end of its life and needs replacing.

so my question is this build an Atom rig and be limited to 3 sata ports or build it using a standard motherboard and get 6+ sata ports

my current thinking is that it will have 2 drives in it for data and a 3rd for the OS and a few other bits, i want a quiet and cheep to run system (low power consumption ) want to spend as little as possiable £250~300

i already have a case & ATX psu and the OS drive

im open to ideas??

also thinking of going down the linux route rather than windows...
