DIY Question about Plasterboard

I'm trying to take down some plasterboard but I'm having trouble finding all the screws that attach the boards to the studs. They were all concealed with pollyfilla (or something similar), some are easy to spot others aren't. Ideally I want to take the boards down in whole pieces. Smashing them to bits is a last resort. Is there some DIY trick to finding the hidden screws?

Magnet, or a metal detector.

Use a plasterboard with screws in to attract the missing magnet
