I'm looking at replacing the locks on our patio doors which are about 20 years old, they are "Solair" brand but I cannot find any information about these. Is it a case of buying new doors or is there some sort of standard?

There are screws to remove the lock but I haven't removed them yet for fear of busting them further :p

Thanks.

I'd have thought it would be a simple enough job for a lock smith. Do you need the whole unit replaced or just the locks? If it's just the locks it should just be a case of new barrels.

What sort of doors are they also what type of locks,

Something like this maybe http://www.locksonline.co.uk/acatalog/Cisa_45110-30_Sliding_Door_Lock.html

Most will just needs new barrels. When we moved in to our house i changed all the locks for the patio/kitchen/porch to CISA Astral S keys which are also keyed the same so we didnt need 3 different keys for all the doors. Changing them takes about 2 minutes each.

Assuming you do just need a new barrel then you'll need to remove one screw that goes in to the end of the lock (where they butt together or hit the frame) insert the key and turn it to something like 45 degrees and then pull the lock out. it may be stiff so might need a mk1 persuader but you'll feel it move once you have the key in the right position.

Then you just slide the new barrel in, screw it in and you're done.
