Django Unchained

I went to see this tonight and loved it. Yes it could have been shorter, but I didn't get bored or really even think about the film length. The thing that really made this movie (apart from the tongue-in-cheek humour that all QT films have) were the actor's performances. DiCaprio was superb, as was SLJ, but I thought Waltz was the best and stole the show for me.
 
Saw it last night, great performances from the main cast, some very tough scenes to watch. It didn't feel as seamless as Inglorious ******** (apparently the first cut of the film is 5 hours long), but it didn't detract from the overall experience. Also, the candlelit scenes in the film are a good example of why 35mm film should still be used in the industry - the way the film stock handled the candlelight was just beautiful and elegant. Well worth seeing.
 
LDC just gets better and better with age - epic performance and the cut hand had me scratching my head. Waltz is brilliant again as in IB.

A solid Tarantino film. I suppose Foxx did ok with the dialogue he had, all part of the character I suppose.

When he broke the skull a tiny piece of bone flew onto the table. When he slammed his hand onto the table later on in the scene the bone cut his hand (near his index finger). You see him pick it out when the guy on the left of the screen stands up from the table about 10 seconds later, then a second after that he realises he's cut his hand but carries on anyway.
 
Wow very impressed, Tarantino really delivered with this film

Lead actors Fox, Walsh, Jackson and Dicaprio all delivered.

The supporting cast in turn were also brilliant

Don Johnson, Walton Goggins (the shield;)) to name but a few.

Had no issue with length of film.....look forward to watching again

9/10

oh and the score was also very good

Actually the cut was caused by the glass; what's left of it pings off to the right as the main stalk shatters under he's palm. ;)
 
What was the deal with the masked girl??

Saw it last night and it didn't disappointment, utterly outrageous in parts. Only QT could get away with such gratuitous use of the n-word and make it sound credible. I've always been a fan of the blaxploiation/spaghetti western genre and also 70s funk music so QT is a directorial dream for someone like me.

SLJ's Uncle Tom character was awesome, totally malevolent and sycophantic at the same time.

Half sure that SLJ's role as the "house n****" was just there to troll spike lee and his supporters as its what they publically called SLJ when he defended tarantino over using the N word
 
7/10, thought it went a bit downhill after
Waltz
was killed. Lots of over the top gun violence so I suppose that will keep a large proportion of Americans happy.

That's intentional though, it's aping the showdown gunfight that happens at the end of nearly all westerns.

Personally I thought it was the only way the film could have satisfactorily finished. QT loves using revenge as the main premise for his films, so denying that revenge would be extremely anti-climactic. I was sad to see Waltz die though, I'll agree on that.
