DJI Phantom 3

Hi guys,

Im looking at getting my first drone/quadcopter. I was going to get a drone and mount an action camera onto it but obviously I would need a decent gimbal too. Adding all this up I thought I may as well go for a DJI Phantom 3 standard. Really can't afford the Advanced as it is £200 more and it is my first drone so I feel £450 is a push.

Anyone experienced any problems with the phantom 3 standard losing signal? I have read it can do (quite a bit less than stated on the description) and it is a firmware issue? (surely this should have been fixed if it is a well known problem)

I don't have the standard but its ok,, however personally I started with phantom 2 removed camera used a gimbal go pro 3+ and 4k
then a vision plus 2.7k total step up...

but I must say the Lightbridge is the killer for me it is so good and such huge step up in all fairness cant answer your original Q
but I would say with in 6 months or if you find others with above the standard ie Lightbridge you will be on upgrade mission so it may be a option to think before you buy lower spec as you would not see much return value etc

that's only my personal I have a 3pro had a version 4 but for my personal reasons rotors on/off and few supposed updates I prefer my 3pro so sold the 4

but will stress the viewing Lightbridge is the real plus for me from earlier models

i have had a few disconnections on pro more on the 4 actually but it allways came back then reconnected in flight never lost control except once going under pier then back over line of sight signal building in way on pier but it did land back in take of spot "home" but was a few frantic moments i will say

Lightbridge is on the advanced version isn't it?

I might wait for the price to drop a little as I would also want another battery which is another £100. £700 + £100 :S Racking up a bit for a hobbyist especially when I have had my hours cut at work

Yeh I have seen some footage on youtube and they do seem good. Ones I have looked at are £800 +. I really wanted £300 ish for my first drone/quadcopter really as I probably won't use it a whole lot.

Not sure if Yuneec do a cheaper model.

EDIT: Had a quick look and they do a £400 version but you have to put your own action camera on it
