DJ's during the 1990's - Name Request

When I was around 11-16, my friend was heavily into music. He would always be buying the latest music CDS, Cream, Ministry of Sound, all the latest dance albums he could find.

Now there was 1 DJ who I remember had a bit of a dicey reputation however some of the music he played was extremely funky, I guess I would call it American House.

This may be completely fabricated and a joke but at the time I remember there being a rumour that the DJ whose name I am after had Aids. This could have been fact or made just to mock him, I honestly don't know.

The point to this post:

Can anyone remember any DJ's during the 90's that had such a rumour floating around?

Or can anyone list a selection of the most well known DJ's around that time period. This was roughly around 10-13 years ago?

I need his name so I can track down some of his Track listings and hopefully find some of the earlier influences to my dance music interests.

I have a vague memory that he had 2 short names making up his name. It wasn't Tall Paul for example but something else. For whatever reason I have the name Jeremy in my head, but it doesn't seem right.

Can anyone use this strange information and come up with a name?!

Thanks in Advance!

Yeah that's the one, Jeremy Healy, Cheers Jock!

I've been looking through the Wiki on Jeremy and no mention of the Aids rumour, guess that was made up :P

Listening to the music, I now need to find the name of another song now.

It basically goes "Ohwwwwww, SPAM! (Could be Spank) Let's get to it, do it"
I'm sure it was a remix of an oldie song and made more dancey. This is my next mission.

D'Menace's "Deep Menace"

That's the one, remember that name! Cheers Again! This was a floor filler when i used to goto the Empire in Middlesbrough.

I'll check that out Dougall. I was in the loft last night, stumbled on an old cd and it's got me thinking about the music I used to listen to. Everything released these days seems to be more Trance orientated, whereas when I was 13, it was more House music.

a lot more funkier in my opinion. That Spiller from Rio rings a bell aswell as Mighty Dub Katz.

Now on the hunt for some Graeme Park CDS! Memories! he did one of the best ever CDs on a 3cd box set Compilation that had a womans face on the front and was in more of a Cardboard box rather than a CD box. I'm not sure if Sister Bliss did 1 of the CDS in the set also. http://www.discogs.com/artist/Graeme+Park

Edit - Found the Graeme Park album - http://www.discogs.com/release/313977 Ebay here I come!

I've never seen Healy live though not such a fan of the Empire now. Haven't been there since I was about 17/18 or something.

I have some more detective work for you guys.

In the following clip - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BvZ88YnxUCs
At 41 seconds can anyone tell me the name of the record label of that record cover? I remember my mate having a ton of records on that label, so would like to find a discography from them if possible.

Here's some classics I found:

Rosie Gaynes – Closer than Close - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uWZrMwR7PR4&feature=related

Duke – So in love with you

My favourite at the Empire was Graeme Park. Had an awesome show on too, acrobats in the air on ropes, big tall robots walking around the dance floor. There was a TV crew there for some TV show that was a regular feature on channel 4 late on a weekend.

Dougall do you have a link to that Positiva discog? Want to find more of their releases.

Yeah I love Masters at work, little Louis Vega!
Been enjoying finding all the old tracks I had forgotten about and hearing them after all these years brings a smile to my face. Nostalgia.

Was in a bidding war with 'An Introspective of House' on Ebay, missed out on it grrr. If anyone has it, I'd be interested in getting my hands on the Graeme Park CD!
