Anyone got one yet?!

FYI - 8 qud core AMD's and up to 256GB in 7U

We have one coming next week - can't wait to get ESX on it

Looked at them but couldn't see the point, better with multiple smaller servers for ESX really and we're not AMD fans for servers anyway. I'll stick with the DL580s for now I think.

Whilst the old opterons were a real breakthrough in terms of performance, not tested the new ones. The Quad core intels really are fast.

I'm sure we'll get one in to test at some point soon. How much RAM are you going with for ESX?

We went with 16GB per ESX node, we looked at 32GB but the price difference wasn't worth it in our opinion...

I agree scaling out is better than scaling up with VMware, as all you are doing is putting a lot of eggs into 1 basket.

We ended up going with some MLxxx recently as we could get 2 * quad core with 64GB RAM for around £5K I think. Few of those and you're laughing. Our VM's are rarely CPU bound to be honest.
