DL380 G4 2008 R2

Anyone running Server 2008 R2 on a DL380 G2.

Looked at the HP site, but can only see the 2008 components listed

Downloaded the latest PSP, so I am thinking install off the R2 CD and then apply PSP etc.

Latest PSP should list Server 2008 as an install OS?

You will need to manually specify the RAID drivers if you install off the CD.

I've been building servers with the Windows media then applying PSP 8.30 R2 afterwards. note: there seems to be a special R2 edition of PSP 8.30 which you can get by choosing G6 servers then Windows Server 2008 R2.

To be honest SmartStart often likes to not install itself properly and I end up doing a PSP install afterwards anyway so you've not got much to lose

Cannot wait to get my mits on a G6!

They are nice the G6s but we have had some issues with them. A few mainboards replaced, suspect early batches?

Plastic and horrible.. they've gone cheap... Got one for an ESX server at the mo.

As for the G4, what I did in the end was installed from 2008 R2 and then PSP from G6

My fav so far is the G5.

We went for Dell R710's in our latest round of buying. Running ESX linked to iSCSI SAN. They are superb machines. Heard a few people talking about the G6 being a bit of a letdown.
