I got 2 of these. Both have the same 2 HDs in them.
I have not used them for a while as I have bought a pair of Netgeat 4 Drive jobs to replace them.
Now, this one has doen it since I first bought it, and since I have dug it out, and I am copying a load of stuff onto it for a mate, I have realized just how rotten slow it is.
As I said, I have 2 of them, and they are both sporting Seagate 2TB HDs. They are both in JBOD mode and they both have the same firmware and the settings are 100% the same too.
The difference being that copying files over to one gives me about 50MB/s and the other around 20MB/s - Im looking at it right now and its at an all-time high of 23.1 MB/s
What could possibly cause this to do that?
Whay could 2 devices that are absolutely 100% the same, give me such a difference in speeds.
I have tried all the obvious and not so obvious possibilties such as the PSU, Network port, cable, and also swapping the Disks around, plus the firmware used are the same files, and even the PSUs have been swapped over, but they have made zero difference.
Anyone have anything to suggest I try?
Right now, he has given me his 1TB and his 2TB ( Both USB ) drives and I am backing them up onto the NAS, but its been going on since yesterday midday and its telling me that its still got 10 hours to go, to copy 1,388 items that are 771GB - the speed is disgusting.
I am really thinking of simply putting these 2 drives into the faster one just to copy the stuff over, and put them back... Come to think of it, why did I not think of that before?
