Dlink DWL-2100AP configuration

Hi there guys,
I have gotten hold of a Dlink DWL-2100AP access point. What i am wanting to do is to increase the wireless range of my current wireless network. How do I setup the DWL-2100AP? Do I use the access point or universal mode?
Any help/tips in setting up the access point would be greatly appreciated.
Do I just need the current wiressless SSID, network key (WEP)?

Can anyone please tell me, whether i have to set/enable dhcp server, if i want to use the dwl-2100ap as a universal receiver?
