I've been playing with DLNA recently and it's frustrating the hell out of me.
My server has a DroboPro with 8x4tb drives attached that's been organised as below for my audio. There's other stuff on there too but it's only the audio I'm interested in sharing at this time.
I've spent weeks getting everything tagged correctly with the correct cover art as folder images and embedded and I'd love to be able to have DLNA setup so that connecting to that mediaserver shows those folders as opposed to the couple of servers that I've tried that lumps them all together into a single shared folder - that is completely horrible and when dealing with Podcasts and audiobooks as well as music, massively disorganised.
I did try setting up the entire drive as a a share, which worked reasonably well, but as there's various other things on the drive it added unneeded folders to the structure, and I couldn't get rid of them.
Plex was attempted, but was horrendously slow and as BubbleUPnP refused to connect to it whatever I did, made it useless for me.
Surely what I want to do isn't ridiculously complicated? Or will I have to run multiple DLNA servers each with a different folder to share?
At this rate, I'm going back to SMB or NFS.
Server is a Xeon 3060 with 4gb running Server 2008 R2, not the most powerful machine in the world, but it works nicely.
Anyone got any ideas?
