right after messing with compacts, i really want to move onto a good camera, always been interested in photography (even used to develop in the old dark rooms at school).

but now i want to learn all the manual settings etc, so what would be the best setup for me, im thinking of jumping in at the deepend and going for a cannon xxd maybe, i take photos of anything my eye catches really, i know thats not very descriptive :)

any help much apreciated!

Canon 450D will be good for you. Kit lens will get you started.

Or second hand 400D for around £250-300, then use the extra £150 for accessories and to put towards a new lens if you want to get a bit more serious about a specialised subject (macro for example)
