@ManCave
recently moved back from 4K -> 1440p & was wondering if DLSS was still worth it for FPS/quality/temperatures.
even though it renders lower resolution, i was wondering if the AI compute was still keeping stress else where on the card & affecting temperature
this is not fully scientific but its good enough for myself & wanted to dump info here in case it helps others

MSI 3090
God of war
Max settings
only change was DLSS
HwMonitor for measurements
break between testing of 5 Minutes to equalize temps
same scene in God of war
capped to 100fps, (was used for other testing but limits difference in scope either way)

Native 100FPS constant
watts Min: 245W
average 250W
Watts Max 324W
Temperature 68C

DLSS Quality - looks at good at Native 100FPS constant
watts Min: 175W
watts average 185W
Watts Max 215W
Temperature 64C

DLSS Balanced - looks worse than native 100FPS constant
watts Min: 165W
watts average 178W
Watts Max 205W
Temperature 63C

DLSS Performance looks worse than native 100FPS constant
watts Min: 135W
watts Average: 144W
Watts Max 165W
Temperature 59C

conclusion moving to DLSS Quality, would make your rig more silent in theory & cost efficent, but needs more games tested to validate.

Good to see this but I think it is pretty common knowledge that upscaling reduces pressure on the gpu since lower res. the easier it is on the gpu thus quieter and cooler running.

All in all, another pro/reason to use upscaling

EDIT:

Btw be interested to see results with using DLDSR and dlss balanced/performance, they often look way better than even native or dlss quality and is similar to native perf.

sure it was more by how much i was interested in & temperature.

Seems DLSS is quite a bit lighter on Resources even with Upscaling
