DMOZ - Back from the dead!

who needs DMOZ? a lumbering giant doing nothing

if you are lucky enough to be accepted 6 months after your application - well done.

far more useful stuff than DMOZ imo

1) being listed on DMOZ is a huge benefit to any site, and will almost certainly increase it's google rating by at least one point, not to mention automatically being listed on all other directorys which use the DMOZ database releases.

2) it doesn't take six months to get listed if your site is worth listing.... the last site i submitted took about a fortnight.

DMOZ is a big site to be listed in.
As it is hand moderated all of the larger search engines trust it.
To be listed in DMOZ means that your sites will appear in the larger search engines and usually get a boost in the rankings because of the fact they have been looked at with a human eye rather than just bots and have been deemed acceptable.

My personal site was accepted onto DMOZ a lot quicker than six months after application - a month at most is all I had to wait.
