Does anyone play this that can advise if its worth getting into?

The local PC World has a copy in for £5 so i was considering it but i would only do it if it was worth playing at all.

Gygaxs death has made me consider playing.

Thanks

Being a former D&D player myself, I quite liked it. There was a severe lack of content on release but I would assume that's been solved now. I liked the narrative and apparently, you can now solo a large chunk of the quests. It used to be you didn't stand a chance without a party of the right classes.

For £5, I can't see it being bad to try.

You could also try their free 10 day trial.

Im playing DDO, some good content, getting monks and hopefully quivers in mod 7 which should be aprilish, as for *** gameplay, its suits me, i dont like games like WoW where u have to wait ** turn to kill a monster,as its all doen by instances, as soon as u enter a quest no one outside ** party can enter, as for soloing quest, its not as easy as trip suggests, take the new area, vale of twilight, my lvl 16 wiz can hunt down all *** rares in there with little diffculty but my lvl 15 ranger can barely get 5 feet inside the gate without being mauled.

Alos forgot to mention, at the moment codemasters are doing a deal, 6 month subscription for half price.

I loved it on release, but it was far too group oriented for me, and the levelling was extremely slow. I'm sure it's improved a lot, but you'll really need someone who still plays to advise you.

Mind you, for a fiver with a free month's play, you can't really go wrong.

I saw the same offfer and picked up a couple of boxes, so far it seems OK and at £5 I have a month, if not interested I will just cancel.

Anybody that does play it, how do you unlock the drow? Saw it on the character creation screen but couldn't select it.

After reading this thread think I will give this a go too.

Downloading the client now, fancy grouping up when you get the game?

Have you had a look at the classes yet? Think I will try out a barbarian.

You need 400 favour points to unlock drow, 1750 for a +2 stat tome, favour is gained by doing quests, elite gives the total amount, i agree that its a pain to lvl up, i have 4 toons and is taking me ages to get them capped, my best advice is join a guild, that way you will almost be guarneteed a party or items from fellow guildies.

Drows are nice, my main is a human Bard, until i unlocked my drow and now i have 3 drow toons, a wizard, paladin and a ranger.

Advice on you 1st toon, depends on how you play, wizards and sorc arent very powerful in the early lvls, but you will almost always get a party, clerics are a sure party invite and also become more powerful thru out the game, fighters/barbarians will amlost always get an invite but for soloing be prepared to bring lots of health pots, paladins, rangers and bards are the 3 toons that is easier to solo the early quests with as they can all heal themselves from wands/spells and have good fighting capabilities, however from my xpereience bards and rangers arent much sought after even though they are great classes, bards have *** crowd control spells and songs and rangers are ranged/dual weild speclaistes. As for the last class rogue i cant ofer to much advice about it as i havent played 1.

Hope that helps abit :D

HMV in Southampton have it for £3.

And that really says it all. I liked it for a while, but it just seems like a very expensive pay per month Guild Wars, everything is instance based (but GW being slightly better).

Its over £10 a month and thats more that LOTRO and WoW. I gave up and went back to LOTRO.

If you want D&D play NWN1 online.
