Got a old D-Link DNS-323 two box NAS thought give it a try again before I give it away. It has ALT F firmware so could work with a big new HD so would be ideal for relative music storage etc.

Plugged into network, powers up but I can't find it in network, logging into my modem/router I can't see it under any wired connection. I've tried both cables, the light on my switch kicks in so it's working. The middle LED (network) is flashing, so it's connected to LAN and cable is ok. I just can't find it/login

I've tried but it just times out also pinged timed out

Windows 11 machine also tried connecting via phone in case it's a samba issue windows 11 has dropped

any ideas? Stock D link search utility wouldn't work as ALT F firmware replaces the D-Link firmware. Also pressed the reset button on the back.

Only thing I did have issue is my 24 port switch has something like http://192.168.1.117/ and default IP of the NAS is http://192.168.0.32/ and I read device lower than the .1. could cause issue but this was years ago with my swtich so not sure.

You will probably need to connect it to a PC where it's configured with the IP address of (something like) 192.168.0.31 so it can communicate with the NAS. Then change the NAS IP to 192.168.1.32 (if it's available on your network). Unplug and connect back to the main network.

Usually devices are initially configured to get an IP from a DHCP server.
