DNS / Hostname

K ive been trying to connect to a Ventrillo server , its a voice communication thing for those that dont know

. I know the adress and port number are correct. When it try to connect it tells me Unable to resolve DNS / Hostname , what the hell does that mean o_0 , skype doesnt work and neither does msn audio conversaion. Im on a wireless router but this hasnt happened before. Is it my net screwing up ?

Usually an error like this points to a problem with DNS. Resolving involves changing a human friendly name eg "www.overclockers.co.uk" to an ip address eg. "80.253.108.90"

What is the "address" you are typing in?

it was a ventrillo ip adress but ive done the same thing for ages and it hasnt given me this turd before. Also a lot of sites dont work and come up with "www.????.com could not be found , please check name and try again". Its like it just cant connect to them or something .. ?

sounds like the DNS server you areusing has died. Are you on NTL cable by any chance?

its itscali but some websites work fine , msn connects can stream off the bbc aswell

Probably because those DNS records still work, or your PC's caching them.
Obvious solution's to use someone else's DNS records, eg 212.159.6.9 is one of Plusnet's.

how do i use that ? o_0

on my network connection deatils , so this is the details of my wireless connection to the router it says DNS server 192.168.0.1 , is that right ? or is that a problem
