dns issues

Hi all,

Just logged on to send a CV out and pc or netbook won't connect.

Seems to be a dns issue and that it isn't responding. I've reset pcs and the netgear router but no joy.

Brother was the last to use it and he says he was connected to a vpn when the game he was playing crashed and he had to reset. When it was loaded back up nothing would connect.

Could being connected to a vpn then crashing mess it up? With it being every pc in the house I can't imagine it being a local problem. I've sent an urgent ticket to Aquiss but no joy yet.

Any suggestions?

Can you connect to websites via IP address?

Try changing your routers settings to use either of the following sets of DNS Servers:

208.67.222.222
208.67.220.220
(OpenDNS)

or

8.8.8.8
8.8.4.4
(Google DNS)

Back when I tried open dns I found it slow.

Currently using google dns.

You shouldn't choose a DNS server based on other peoples experiences, instead use a DNS benchmark yourself and pick the one that performs best:
