Hi All

I have recently set-up a home server in my attic running 2008 R2. Its configured with DNS, AD DS, File Server and Web Server(+FTP). Network settings on the server are as follows:

IP Address: 192.168.0.249
Subnet mask: 255:255:255:0
Default Gateway: 192.168.0.1

Preferred DNS: 8.8.8.8
Alternate DNS: 127.0.0.1

Network settings on my PC are:

IP Address: Auto
Subnet mask: Auto
Default Gateway: Auto

Preferred DNS: n/a
Alternate DNS: 192.168.0.249

Now with these settings ive got a active internet connection on both machines. Ive got a website running on my server (with DyDNS) which i can reach externally and locally no problem. However i noticed this morning with Facebook a whole load of pictures that dont load all over the place. The reason when you try and open them in their own page is DNS config. I had a few times in google trying to open a search result link that i got a DNS error but going back and reloading usually opens the page. I would have though if the DNS was configured wrong i wouldnt get any DNS resolutions, why is it that some things do and some dont?
