DNS Problems

I'm on O2 broadband.

They have given me an O2 Thompson router which is useless - it's slow, it has no options, I get higher ping in games, and some things just time out instead of connecting properly :(
I have a Linksys WAG320N that worked perfectly with BT, although with O2 it works fine but then after a random time (30 minutes to 5 hours) it just stops working. Steam, MSN, and other things still work - websites just won't load. If I use OpenDNS though, it works fine, although this is not an option as some of my devices do not support it, plus it's difficult and annoying having to change the settings for when I go to work and use the wireless there.
I've even tried cloning the O2 router's MAC, and manually inputting the DNS settings, but the same problem still occurs
Any ideas on what I can do to fix this?

Thanks

What devices don't support OpenDNS?

Why not change the DNS server the DHCP server on the router gives out?

What actually happens after 30 mins to 5 hours? Can you ping the router? Can you ping external IPs? Can you ping external domain names and resolve them?

What do you use that doesn't support OpenDNS' DNS servers..? If they really do not work, use 4.2.2.1 / 4.2.2.2 or something - quite popular DNS servers owned by Level 3.

Have you tried flashing the O2 Thompson Router (which I believe is a branded Speedtouch 585v7 if you got the newer model, if not it'll be the 585v6)... Put the stock Thomson firmware and over-ride the O2 branded firmware..

Or upgrading the firmware on the Linksys WAG320N..

If someone of your devices "don't support open dns", which outputs the same ip & addresses as any other dns server, then I seriously doubt that's your problem.
