Hi Guys,
I changed the names servers on a website to point towards a new server and while the nameservers have changed the DNS servers are still pointing towards my old host. I thought changing the nameservers changes the DNS servers as well?

The reason I ask is our email is on the new server and we are having trouble accessing it. We can access it fine via some networks and over 3G on our iPhones but not on some networks?

I have tried changing the DNS servers on my computer with no luck?

Not sure if reducing the TTL would have helped if he changed the name servers as it's the registry that would need to update with the correct NS, so the change in TTL on the old server would be irrelevant.

However, of making changes on the same server reducing the TTL before hand is definately the way to go

Thanks for this guys, just found it strange that at times the email works ok and them other times it doesn't.

I definitely agree with this, lowering the TTL is the best way to go before changing any DNS/MX etc stuff, any of this can be a bit of a minefield I find, it's all about proper timing and preplanning, but meh, the best way to learn is to make mistakes and overcome them :)

Ok Guys, so everything has finally been changed however we are still experiencing problems connecting to mailboxes? I can connect fine to my mailbox on my macbook on the home wifi but my iMac and iPhone won't connect, it keeps saying the mail server is unavailable? I cant connect fine over 3G and when I use tethering.

After a bit of googling about I found an article saying that some server restrict the amount of concurrent IMAP connections from 1 IP address and in my case, we are using the PLESK control panel by the way, they say the limit is 4 per IP address!

Has anyone ever heard of this, I sure haven't and I was wondering is there a way of increasing the amount?

Thanks again guys for all your help.

I found this article that describes how to fix the issue but I am a little concerned as I have never heard of this before.

Any ideas
