Hi. I am with virgin and for the last week or so I keep getting a problem where I can't get on websites. I use Firefox but I get the same problem with chrome. It says connected to internet but it says dns server not responding. I know the modem is working as I have crypto miners running with no problems. I restart the pc and its fine but every day I wake up to the same problem. Any ideas please??

Are you using the default virgin DNS servers or set to something else, have you got DOH enabled in your browsers?

Everything is default .I did set the dns server to 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 manually but it still did it. everything is set to obtain dns automatically. Not sure what DOH is. And the crytpo miners are not affected at all so i know the internet is working. It's just on the pc this happens. And wierdly i have to reset the email password every day to becuase it won't recognise it. I'm starting to wonder if someone is trying to hack me
Edit, i have now enabled DOH on firefox. It was already enabled on Chrome

Do you mean every day you turn on your PC for the first time it has this problem every time, until you reboot it once upon which it then works?

Or does it only sometimes exhibit this issue?

Does it make a difference what time of day you turn the PC on?

When you say you can't get onto the internet on that PC, are you basing this purely on not being able to browse internet pages in browsers or have you tried other things like say connecting to Steam Game network, or discord, or some other app, or tried pinging google in a command prompt?

The pc is on 24/7. It just happens at any time. i first noticed it by coming down every morning to have the problem. But it can happen any time. Restarting the pc sorts it out for a while.I lose connection on the desktop whatsapp too and also discord. So it's not just a browser problem. I will say that today it hasn't happened yet.

Is it the PC in your sig? I have the same motherboard, assuming you're connected to the router via ethernet I remember earlier LAN drivers having issues. Updated to the latest Realtek drivers at the time and it solved all my problems. Could try that and see if that helps.

To figure out the issue you need to try some stuff really to see how things behave. The first things you can do that are easy and quick:

EDIT: 0: Restart your virgin router. Does it go away then?

1: Use a fixed IP address. Either get your router to assign a specific IP always to your PC and ensure nothing else on the network could have that IP. See if the issue remains.
2: Disable ethernet on your PC and use only the wireless built into your motherboard to see if the issue goes away. Or, if you have left wireless enabled as well as ethernet, disable the wireless to ensure one is not interfering with the other.
3: Start looking at possible software causing issues like anti virus / firewall by disabling it for a day or two and see if the issue goes away.
4: Stop your miner machines and see if this has an effect
5: Put the VM router into modem only mode and use a separate wireless router and see if the issue goes away

I once had a weird issue with a VM router to do with the arp cache where it was causing no end of problems for me. After many other issues with the router generally, I just slapped it into modem mode and used a separate router. I've never gone back since. Life's too short to not use modem only mode on VM gear imo. Too many bugs.

I have updated all mb drivers.

Where did you get the Realtek drivers from? The ones on MSI's support page is out of date. Go to the Realtek site and grab it from there
That threw me. In my overclockers account it says i bought a gigabyte mb. So i've been downloading from the gigabyte website. I forgot that mb wasn't in stock so i changed it to the MSI one. Installed the latest one now from reraltek. Lets see if that helps. Cheers
