Do all 7900GTs have the same hardware design?

I'm wondering if all 7900GTs resellers stick to NVIDIA reference designs, or if they customise the hardware. I can't get hold of a XFX 7900GT Extreme Edition (at 550/1630) due to stock delays, so I'm thinking of getting another make.

Now to my question - if the cheaper version clocks as high as the XFX, can I reflash it with the XFX firmware to "lock" the higher speeds? This should work fine if they both use the same hardware, right? I know I can use Coolbits etc to clock it higher, but a firmware flash is neater.

My OCuk 7900GT will go 590 1600 off the slighty noisy stock cooler m8. Ive put a zalman VF900 on it now, and will volt mod it sometime soon.
