Do all 8800GTS's take up 2 PCI Backplates?

As the title really, do all the 8800GTS's take up 2 backplates, and whats the performance difference between the GT and the GTS? GTX is outta my league ATM... :(
 
All the GTS cards take up two, unless you could put the GT's cooler on a GTS but it would overheat like crazy! (look at the GT cards... ;)) GTS is a fair bit quicker in shader-intensive games i suppose.
