do all XB1 controllers have this 'feature!'?

this might sound like being picky, but it's annoying me....

when using the thumbsticks, when they hit off the casing there's a noise from the controller like something is loose, kinda like a spring vibrating? a small clatter! to me it makes it feel wrong

if I squeeze the casing (front to back) then the noise stops

I sent the controller back to Microsoft, who have sent me a replacement that does the exact same thing!

a standard XB1 controller that I have doesn't do this...maybe they all do this because they're made of different material etc but I find it hard to believe..
so if anyone with the controller could check this out for me pls...

I can't say I've noticed this on my two regular controllers, or my elite one. Though I admit the quality is a bit questionable so perhaps just luck of the draw. I've noticed on one of my controllers the casing has etched a groove in the thumbstick shaft and it no longer moves smoothly when I roll the stick side-to-side whilst pushing forward. The elite one has metal shafts so it might be a known issue.

The Xbox one controller isn't the best built piece of kit... Whilst I don't have the issue you've described, I've had intermittent issues with my dpad making loud squeaking noises whenever I press it to the left. This started after about 5 months after I bought it.

My Day 1 pad has always creaked and squeaked, however the Lunar White edition I bought a few months back is extremely solid.

I think the earlier pads were known for being a little less well built.

Aye I bought a standard controller for when the Elite was sent to Microsoft to get replaced and it feels solid too.

Have now noticed the rumble/vibrate makes a noise too, so something's loose there as well. Will be sending it back again.
Also...,it arrived in a Jiffy bag, loose inside. expected better packaging for something worth £120!

Mine squeaks a creeks and also sound like there is something loose inside when i shake it :o but it does not seem to affect it in anyway.

I dont think they are built as good a the 360 pad was but if you want a quality pad then the ELITE controller is quality.

I didn't realise you were talking about the Elite controller. I have to send mine back soon (stick drift since new) and this has me worried now :(

Ive had an xb1 pad for quite some time, I don't think I have this clatter issue you speak of op! perhaps ms just sent your old controller back to you?

EDIT

Oh wow, this is on the elite controller? very poor show for something so expensive!

yeah I meant to put that in the title

it works fine btw, no issues. but the noise is distracting, it's not loud but it's irritating - kinda 'nails down a blackboard' sort of noise
such a shame as the Elite controller feels amazing to hold with the rubberized grips

the noise from the rumble is just taking the **** tho tbh

I want of these things but not sure its worth the £100+ price to be able to jump and aim in cod :P Reminds me of the 90's when the 6 button street fighter style lay out pads were becoming available. :P

I wouldn't say it's worth it for Call of Duty personally, I bought mine to be more competitive in Halo. In CoD I feel I'm cheated out of so many gunfights by lag that I don't see any point trying too hard anymore.

Can't say i've ever had this problem, i've had my xbox one for about over a year now and the official Microsoft controller is the best i've ever used. The amount of motors, the grip, the thumb sticks and the triggers are all very precise. If you are still experiencing problems contact microsoft directly again and fully explain the issue, otherwise i'd recommend getting an unofficial controller to see if this avoids the issue, although i've never experienced it myself with this controller.

The Forza 6 and Lunar White pads both have the rubberised grip, and they are the best controllers I've used, no issues.
