Do BenQ open and re-seal their monitors for any reason?

My BenQ Mobiuz monitor arrived today from Ocuk and it looks like it's been opened and then sealed again with another layer of tape (still with the BenQ logo on the the tape). I've not opened it myself yet.

I originally bought this monitor from another major retailer and had to return it twice! The original and the replacement were the same and looked as though they had been opened and then re-sealed. The first monitor had a bright pixel in the middle of the screen so that went straight back. The replacement arrived with a stand that looked like it had been used (fingerprints, scratches and slight wear marks)... That also went back.

Could BenQ be sending refurbished/repaired or customer returns to resellers??

Ok, all I can say is hold off on buying a BenQ Mobiuz EX2710 monitor. There's clearly an issue with these as this is my third one and it's going back. The same story as the previous monitors from a different retailer as this one also arrived re-sealed. The stand packaging had clearly been opened before and not taped back up. The monitor itself has a bright red stuck pixel in the top left corner! This one is manufactured July 2020 which is a fair while ago. It's either been sat for a long time (doubtful) or it's a previous return that BenQ has deemed fit to repackage and send back to the supplier as new. I suspect this is the same story with the previous monitors I bought.

It's a shame as I really like the styling of this monitor and really wanted it.... But three times in a row is enough for me and enough to put me off buying BenQ products!

EDIT: I've just sent a support email to BenQ UK to see if they can explain this.

Anyway, that's the BenQ monitor returned. BenQ actually tried to get me to buy it directly from themselves instead of other suppliers when I explained the situation I've had with this model. I might have gone through with it too if it weren't for the 2 week delivery time and declaration inspections (coming from the Netherlands).

I just ended up ordering this LG from OcUK instead: ▷ LG 27GL850-B 27" 2560x1440 NANO IPS 144Hz 1ms… | OcUK (overclockers.co.uk).

Hopefully it'll be a good all-rounder. I didn't really want to go with a TN panel and I find VA panels can can be a bit "smeary" at times when gaming, so the LG IPS panel seems like a good bet (I can put up with a bit of IPS glow).

Nice conversation with yourself here!

It does look a bit odd :D. I thought I'd carry on for the benefit of anyone who might be reading or has a similar issue.

I am surprised at Benq doing that but also a lot of monitors seem to get returned for various reasons and I suppose they can't throw them all away.

I also thought that too. Someone could be checking over a return and in their eyes it might be OK, or they simply missed the fault or defect and then repackaged it. Receiving resealed items and then discovering defects is a big no go from me. Fingers crossed for the LG! It'll be waiting for when I get back from work

The first two monitors were ordered new from a certain "rainforest". Benq didn't say anything about having to open boxes in the reply I got when I emailed them. They just recommended I order from themselves instead, which I shouldn't really have to.

I also don't find the need for any retailer to break seals on boxes to do a "random check"... Unless of course the box is damaged. Can't think of any other reason for a check on a new and sealed item?

Anyway, I can confirm the new LG monitor I received earlier from OcUK is actually pretty good! I'm not seeing what some reviewers see regarding poor black levels as they look fine to me. I loaded up some old dark games to test and they looked great! There will always be a bit of IPS glow and I knew that as I've had IPS screens before, but nothing distracting. It's very minimal on this screen. Reviewers would have received early versions of this monitor when it was first released, so maybe things have been tweaked since then with newer revisions? I'm perfectly happy with mine... No dead or stuck pixels, no noticeable light bleed and the blacks look fine to me.
