Do cameras come with some charge in the battery

Hi all, got my partner the sony rx100 mk1 for Christmas and want her to be able to take pics right out the box so do they come with some charge?

When ever I bought a Canon compact job, they've come charged out of the box.

Both batteries that came with my Canon DSLR were virtually flat and the manual said they would be.

They aren't normally dead because this isn't good for them.

Just bought a Sony a few days ago and the battery wouldn't even turn the camera on out of the box

If it's a LiPo it will have a residual charge.

Normally they will have at least 50% charge. I've never bought a device that came with an empty battery.
