Do case fans affect CPU temp?

I have just built my new system

Core i7 920
Noctua CPU Cooler
Silverstone TJ07

I was wondering if replacing the case fans with more powerful ones will they reduce the CPU temperature as well as the system temperature?

The CPU runs at 37/38C idle, not done any load testing yet, while the system temp is about 47C.

As the CPU cooler is mounted horizontally so the fans point upwards to the top exhaust fans, I am thinking to disconnect the bottom CPU fan as it may be pulling hot air on to the cooler from below. Any thoughts?

Many Thanks.

Well it prevents hot air from building up in the case so more airflow always helps. With that said however, unless you have a very poorly ventilated case don't expect any huge differences. I recently tidied my cables and replaced my two 'in' fans with noctuas, i'd say temps only dropped by 1 or 2C. I did it mainly for the knowledge that everything in my system will run just that little bit cooler, also it's hopefully allowed for positive pressure in my case which = less dust.

I'll see how it goes with the current fans before I spend more on replacing them.

However the point about dust is a good one as my case does not have dust filters.

Thanks
