Do digital games annoy you?

You need to explain...

How could 2 people playing on 1 HD quality screen with 50²" of surface area each be a bad thing?

its like playing on 2 HDTVs.

real life friends + massive HD screen and surround sound... Maybe throw in some alcohol..

Yeah disgusting

of course its fun... I was just being arrogant. ;)

Goldeneye on your projecter would be epic.

If the past 30 years are anything to go by anything 30 years old will easily be emulated. Im not going to worry in 30 years where my skyrim disk is and xbox 360.

well 30 years i cant see "old classics" being played like today. anyone in there 30/40s appreciate older games , but cant see that happening the past .

and emulation ( unless on official downloads ) is illegal mostly. how many ps1/ps2 games are availabkle to buy on ps network ? same with xbox

True I cant see myself playing 3d games from today in 30 years. At least with 2d games they dont age so badly. By emulation I meant legal, companies will try to resell old stuff again and again.. i think Im getting off point of thre thread really.

On a night like tonight if digital downloads were decently priced on the xbox like they are on pc (some amazing steam deals etc lately!) then I could have bought something on a whim. It could be a good thing if games become more available digitally rather than mainly physically if you want a reasonable price and resale value. I wouldnt pay £15 for something you can get for probably £5 just because I'm bored though which is why I didnt bother.

While the price of consoles is so high then I don't have a problem with owning a physical copy. I like to trade in a game to offset the price of a new game.
Plus Games On Demand shows that digital gaming for consoles just isn't practical at the moment. Games that are over a year old are still priced above what they cost on release day! I looked at a game the other day(I think it was Saints Row The Third) and it was priced at £49.99 on Games On Demand!
So until publishers start pricing digital console games lower than the price of a physical copy then i'm just not interested.

Do you find it annoying that there are people that want to get rid of games on disks? I like to see my collection ;)

When games came in real big boxes with loads of stuff, yes.

Now it's just a 3p plastic DVD case and a 6 page manual.

I'd rather have the space. Digital distribution is the future. PC has it sorted, just need it on consoles properly (and competitively priced) now.

I much prefer to have a physical hard copy, partially because it feels more secure than digital and if say steam / valve collapsed what happens to your games? With a physical copy you could still play them.

Also the main problem is normal digital prices are frankly too expensive compared to physical discs, I normally find the physical copy is cheaper than the digital copy.

yeah that's the biggest nonsense of digital.

I prefer hard copy of my games, for a few reasons :

1) Digital versions tend to be more expensive and retail games often arrive early
2) I have a 8mb line and therefore downloading takes too long especially as games are getting bigger and bigger
3) I like some "collectors" editions and the bits that come with them :)
4) Console HD storage is too limited

That's not to say I don't buy any digital but the ones I do tend to be the PSN/XBL ones or a bargain off steam.

how big are the games on ps3 blue ray disc?

I like having my physical copies to put on my bookshelf :). I've bought a lot more digital games recently with steam and other such services, but I still buy physical copies of PC games if they are brand new out.

This is so true. One look at the PSN store makes me feel sick. They try and charge £50 for a game that is a good few months old. They seriously need to sort themselves out for stuff like that. Who in their right mind would buy it on there when (and I checked this) it was retailing for £15-25 on online stores. Insanity

But haven't Sony said that the store was supposed to be more expensive to keep physical copies selling?

That just doesn't make any sense to me. Surely publishers will get more money from digital sales? The only costs they'll have is paying for a server to host the file and whatever money they have to pay to sony/ms/steam or whatever. Rather than having to pay for production costs, shipping, money to distributors.

Generally I prefer digital games. Majority of my PC games are on Steam. For me I prefer not having lots of boxes which I have to store.

That said I will always price compare. If I really REALLY want a certain game and its cheaper to get retail ver then I will buy the retail ver. Otherwise if its not really a game I want I will wait till sales on digital and pick it up when its cheaper.
