The ones with the bump thats supposed to support your wrist

I was wondering why gaming mousemats dont have it

Because they don't work...

Anything that "supports" your wrist will eventually pinch your nerves and give you nasty RSI.

"current" ergo thought is that your arm be at 90" to the desk, and not resting on anying. Then again... "current" ergo thinking is that keyboards are fine, using a mouse at all is evil.

Frankly... gaming and ergonomics are competing interests.

Probably because if you need to make a really quick movement that it might become an obstruction, ergonomic mousemats are designed for comfort rather than speed of precision. When you ask do they work - they do in that they support your wrist, whether that is better for you or not is going to be a matter of debate. I've used both and find it doesn't make much odds to me but then I can comfortably rest my wrists/heel of my hand on the table even when holding the mouse.

i just bought an MX518 and im not getting on with it too well, its straining my wrist :(

cant seem to find a good mouse

those supports are perfect if you have a low desk but if you r chair barely fits under your desk then you may be like me and find that the supports lifts your hand too high above the mouse so you cant get a decent comfortable grip on it.

Just got a cheapy one. Works well and supports wrist nicely but having to adjust gaming style (cod4) a bit as it cause problems and restricts movement a bit.

I cant get by without one, I have to have a normal mouse mat on top though, so the optical mouse can read it correctly. I got really quite bad lump on my wrist until I used this type of mouse pad and also a wrist rest for the keyboard. Now I am an Assassin.

It is the common link here although a bit of an expensive swap possibly.

Marcos have you tried any Razer mice? They are quite low profile and flat so that might be better for you if it is the height of the mouse that you find uncomfortable.

ive never tried razer mice, but i'd feel a bit silly buying one considering i dont game on PC.

But you're right, it might be the height of the mouse, i might be better off with a cheap/budget mouse with the right shape, over these expensive and complex gaming mice
