Any examples?

Well where the retailers get these so-called release dates from I dont know. You should never trust them in the first place. Generally the developers/publishers wont officially announce an exact date unless they are 100% sure.

I think half the time if a month gets mentioned in an interview, games retailers automatically say "Itll definetly be done by then". Theyre just trying to rake in the $$ at the end of the day and pre-orders can give them a good indication of how much they will be taking in.

the latest ghost recon ones are a prime candidate for late arrivals,

more delays from what i hear most companies are going the console way i guess.

cod3 is a prime example but i sure thats another thread somewhere

S.T.A.L.K.E.R was released on time................or was that Sonic The Hedgehog ?

Seems so long ago :D

Never look at retailers' dates. Developers themselves rarely set a public deadline. And it's amazing how so many people think that retailer's maximum estimated release dates are the actual ones. (ie, March the 30th being the released date for many high profile games)

What about Quake Wars, that's been put back until next year! Also, i like it when they put up a date even if it's wrong. It's kinda like guessing whether or not it's gonna be out by then. Think cluedo. Well, except with EA who are still playing Monopoly.

When games are released on time it is often obvious they could be left in development for a while.

I love it when someone throws the toys out the pram then fails to come up with any examples..

There are plenty of games that haven't been released on time. This month is no exception, I haven't been following any games but if you wanted me to dig some up I would be happy, games are delayed all over the place on every platform. Examples don't need to be mentioned it is an industry fact.

It doesn't just apply to games thought software too is often delayed.

When someones making an arguement, its always polite to provide facts to back it up. It gives more depth to a discussion and can provide information to people not "in the know".

Its like say, if I opened up a discussion saying "I dont like 'x' game" and leaving it at that, theres almost no point to me saying it cause I havnt provided anything constructive for other people to follow on from.

games tend to be released on their due dates if their crap or have a developer who tells the distributor where to go when they push for earlier release dates

Load of rubbish. The problem is plenty of places make up dates. You can't know when a game will be finished more than a few weeks ahead. Anything else is just the current target.

Yes, plenty of games get delayed, but many don't. The trick is to ignore release dates, or treat them as 'best guesses'.

yeah dont really need examples, every PC game thats remotely good or even the bad ones get delayed... oddly EA does get em out proberly cos there half complete ;) in some ways I admir and dislike that.... but then again u gotta release it otherwise it just becomes a joke.

I doubt were even gonna get UT2007 or Crysis this year...

I think there the only 2 games that are looking remotely next gen type...

I dont think 'Next Gen' is really a phrase that should be used on the PC format though.
