Hello, my son has booked a hotel to stay in (using a booking website) whilst he is away, my concern is he doesn't drive or hold any photo ID. Will the hotel require him to show photo ID or will him just presenting his payment card be enough?

The hotel is in the UK and he is an english citizen.

Thank you

I've never been asked for ID checking into a UK hotel.

However, in the time it took to sign up and post this, you could've called the hotel and asked them.

How old is he? Most hotels say there must be an adult (>18) in each room so if he looks very young they might ask for id?

Thank you all for the replies! He is 24 it did cross my mind at one point to call them, however I thought they'd probably require a booking number or wouldn't talk to me because the booking is not in my name.

The only hotel I've been asked for ID in at the UK is one of the Luton airport hotels, I don't remember which one but I think it's predominantly red.

Useful, right?

Yes.

I booked into a hotel in Birmingham "The Birmingham Hotel" for a DragonForce gig of all bands. They took a copy of my passport.

It was the most grim hotel I've ever stayed in, fortunately it was literally to lie of a bed after drinking.

Plus the surrounding area was grim, and like being in another country.

Hmm... Idea for a separate thread? Quiet please, I'm thinking......:)

You sure you weren’t so drunk you actually ended up in another country?! And yes, I’m speaking from experience!!
