I have buying games like mad the last few years and subsequently have loads unplayed or barely played I feel like I could play the current lot and never need a new game yet I am still compelled to buy games. I have preordered xcom!

anyone else in the same boat or has been in the same situation?

I wanted Guild Wars 2 so badly until it came out and then I realised all I ever play is Dota2 and it will keep my happy for months to come.

I always seem to get hooked on one game and ignore all others

Same here Iv played battlefield armoured kill once this month and its my favourite game, there just isn't enough time I'm currently playing fallout new Vegas and black mesa source, iv already had to stop playing left for dead 2 aswell to finish these.

Given that this is a gaming forum I'd imagine almost everyone her is in the same situation

And to answer your question - NO you definitely don't need another game. Of course that has never stopped anyone here buying another one...... :D

Ever since sc2 has come out, every other game I buy just kinda sits on the shelf and never gets played for more than the initial hour.

I'm in the same boat. ;)

Approaching 1000 games (got a beta key from a friend about this time last year) and still not bored of it. Will be good when its fully released.

Yup apparently I've played 21% of my Steam catalogue, I seem to buy older games that I want to get round to during sales but end up spending my time on the new blockbusters. I'm still halfway through Skyrim (35 hours) and I got that over Christmas

Halfway? At 35 hours, you're about 20% through it since it is never technically complete it until you do every quest possible etc.

Yeh I'm not gonna bother with that crap, main story and some of the major quests is enough for me, why play 100 hours etc, pointless, I have other games to play, not to mention a life to live lol

Why don't you stop wasting money by buying games since you know they don't get touched, and finish a few you own already. Too much choice means you won't immerse yourself in any one game completely. You've probably got tons of games you haven't installed or played that you could have bought much cheaper today. You might as well just download the demos.

master the games you have. I'm waiting (with a pal) for borderlands 2 to get cheaper in a year or something. You might have better hardware later too so you may enjoy well (mature) patched games that look better from when they were first released for cheaper (1 player campaigns etc)

This. From experience I can tell you now having a backlog is ****ing horrible, I'm genuinely not gonna buy any more games from this point on besides Hitman Absolution and Resident Evil 6 (childhood obligations) as I have over 80 I haven't even touched. It's the worst situation a PC gamer can find themselves in IMO, all the other big titles can wait for me, even Far Cry 3 and Rainbow Six (maybe) which I've been looking forward to for years.

Another good point, if you have games to play already, don't be tempted to go and buy Skyrim A, B, C & D. They aren't going anywhere and will only get cheaper over time, as well as polished with patches, concentrate on what you have and only buy games with multiplayer components that will die before you get around to them any other way.

I'm still planning on winning the lottery. Then I will have plenty of time to finish off my steam list. Not sure what my wife would say. Will probably try and go pro on sc2 or something :D
