Hi,
This might be difficult for you to answer, but I didn't know where else to ask.
I've a Asus ROG Strix GTX1080 A8G Graphics card. Maybe 4 or 5 years old (don't recall when I bought it).
Its had a fairly easy life, running in a i7 3770 4.4mhz OC system, mainly at 1440p.
Not really pushed to its limit, hardly ever gets hot enough for the fans to kick in, but when they do it remains around 60 degs.
I started to play with OCing the card last week using the Asus Tweek program, and a guide on Nvidia forum. Really mild, I think I reached 2000 boost clock (the guide reached 2150), and 11400 memory clock. Using 3D Mark Time Spy and Stress test to log results.
Seemed to be all ok. Was then playing Elite Dangerous last night and notice random red spots (it was easy to notice due to the mostly black screen/space/sky etc.).
I've read about random red pixels being a sign of a cable or card failure/fault. But these were more like blobs than pixels. ranging from a few mm to size of a coin. The sort of thing you would expect if there was a blinking red light on screen. But not what you expect to see when viewing a dark space scene.
They are random, not always showing, sometimes more then one, sometimes just one and vary in size. I've not got any pictures/video as not sure how I would capture it.
Does this sound like a card issue? Anyone seen this before?
Tonight I am going to run other games to see if it happens and also try and run ED without the OC settings, back to default. But I've not done this yet.
Thanks in advance
