for some reason since i got my 280gtx i have had stuttering in games but it doesnt seem like the usual kind that got with old graphics cards

the card makes a squealing sound but i hear that its quite normal for this card, the thing is that when a game stutters then the sound stops with the game, games like oblivion always ran perfectly on my 8800gt but on the new card there is horrible stuttering at what seems like random times

its the same with age of empires 3 and dawn of war: soulstorm too
having said that a lot of my other games run perfectly on the 280 so i dont know what the problem could be? i have all the latest drivers and patches

here is my system

Vista Ultimate
Intel Core 2 Duo E8600
Nvidia GTX280
SB Audigy 2 ZS Audio
Corsair 4GB DDR2 XMS2 PC2-6400C5 TwinX
Asus P5Q Deluxe
Corsair HX 620W Psu
120gig Maxtor SATA
300gig Maxtor SATA

do you think it could be a power problem? or maybe memory? i have the card connected with a 6+2 connector and a 6 connector, am i right in thinking that the 6+2 does exactly the same job as a 8pin?

HI!
Screen freeze, stuttering sometimes happens on GTX280!
Nothing you can do about it!

Is ur GPU, CPU or Ram overclocked?

6+2 does same job as 8pi = some PSU' just split in 6+2 in case if you run games such as 4870 where u need 2x6pins!

If ur pc has problem only while gameplay, than it's ok!
I wouldn't say that it's faulty GPU, mine sometimes does "screen freez", but only on COD4.
