Do I have my 360 setup correctly?

Hey all,
Most of my questions have been covered before but none specific to my new HDTV.

I have just got a Hyundai Vvuvon Q261 (Manual http://www.avforums.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=26136&d=1141321040 ).

I have bought a VGA cable and plugged it in, I have set the resolution on the 360 to the highest one 1360x768.

Have I set the correct (best) resolution for my TV and do I need to do anything else to get it looking better?

And secondly I am using it for my main DVD player as I have it read that over VGA it upscales DVD's. Do I need to set anything for this or does it do it automatically?

Thankyou.

Are you using the offical VGA Cable, Nismo here says it's much better with the official cable over the joytech one (and the Blaze one is supposed to be a joke).

There is a very large difference.

agreed official is by far the best

I'd agree that the official is the best, but has anyone tried using a 3rd party cable since that update that boosted the colour over VGA? The margins may have narrowed. Academic really, since the official is still the way to go.

I noticed no difference whatsoever after the update when I had the Joytech cable, it was still the same as before - washed out and dull.

Official cable is in a different league, better IQ plus it centers the image properly on my LCD TV, whereas the Joytech lead was off to the right at optimal resolutions even after manually adjusting the screen.

I don't find the Blaze cable too bad, the Mad Catz one it replaced was an absolute joke though.

The difference you see will depend on your screen (size and quality), but yes, worthwhile seems to be the experience of everyone here (myself incl.).

Hmm, this thread has kind of gone off without me :p

Yes I do have the official cable.
Thats because it was all summed up in the first reply :p

You've got the best settings for your TV and the dvd upscaling is automatic, just stick in a DVD and watch :)

so is it best to use the rgb component on my samsung 26" lcd tv or the vga cable??

Confused now.

i run at 720p, tv can do 1080i but most games are 720p anyways :p

VGA (using the official lead) should look better than component, it was for me anyway on a Sammy 23" LCD TV previously running at 720p.

got the microsoft vga cable today and tried it against the madcatz one.
and your right the colours are better.
very noticeable with black and red they seem to be much deeper and thats with my samsung lcd set up the same for both cables.
thanks very much.
£19.99 was not wasted.
cheers ian.

I got terrible ghosting with my MadCatz so for me it was well worth changing it.
thanks very much for info.
yes the cable is much better than the madcatz one.
i would not have thought a cable would make much difference but it does.
cheers ian.
