I've always experienced quite severe pain in my shins and ankles whilst running and have been told I suffer from shin splints...

Thing is after someone recommending tennis balls as a treatment for shin splints used by muay thai fighters in another thread I've been looking at different things online to get a better idea and I'm confused by it all to be honest... from what I have read the pain is supposed to come from the internal side of the shin, mine is on the outer side...

Describing the pain it feels almost like lactic acid build up and like something is pulling away internally, this pain/ discomfort can last several days... I know a proper diagnosis is needed but what do you guys think?

You didn't really need to start a new thread :p

First thing to try is to stop heal striking. This will reduce the strain on the muscles resisting ankle extension.
