Howzit,

I was just wondering, do I have to use StyleXP to change my XP Themes?
I downloaded a load of themes from Themexp.com and they came in .exe files. I think they are self extracting files, if I remember correctly. Is there any other way to apply them, without using StyleXP?

Thanks.

yeah you can do it without style xp. It involves download a custom uxtheme.dll file.
XPize also includes this file, as well as lots of other xp enhancements so i'd reacommend you download it. after it's installed you can use unsigned themes on xp:)

oh and i wouldnt beother with the exe themes. they are normally full or spyware and/or virii:)

id still recommend xpize because of the other changes it makes

Features

* Patches more than 150 system files without user interaction.

* Updates tons of old resources still existent in Windows XP coming from Windows 95/98/2000.

* Gives Windows XP a fresh new look, with new animations, icons and images.

* Installs some cool extras, such as a boot screen, logon screen, screensaver and more.

* Lets you create a custom Windows CD using the I386 Patching feature.

* Is compatible with nLite's hotfix integration.

* Has advanced switches to let you install it silently and with the components you want.

yeah, xpize does rule :)

just disable the mmc patch (in exe's) and the commandline colours (in extras)

these will be fixed in next version, but leave them out for now :)

I've installed UXtheme. what do I do with the deviant art themes to get them running?

Edit NVM i got it..

the commandline colours give certain programs issues, i think its things like visual studio.. http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?showtopic=66629

as for the .net frameworks..

get 1.0 w Sp1 and 2.0 from here..

http://ryanvm.net/msfn/

they're both switchless installers, just doubel click and it'll install them :)

if you want to keep autologin, then after installing them, Start, Run "control userpasswords2"
