Do i-Macs ever need calibrating?

I wondered if they, like monitors in general, ever need colour calibrating for acuracy as time passes, especially for photography.

Yep. It's just a monitor after all there's nothing special about them.

I thought I read they had something in-built/factory default, that negated ever having to colour calibrate them?

I heard something about them being calibrated out of the factory, but even so every monitor needs calibrating now and then.

They're good screens, especially compared to some of the garbage you find on cheap (or even not so cheap) laptops but it still isn't a substitute for proper calibration.

Plus it's not just about colour, out of the box the Macs screen has the brightness way up high which is not really suitable.
