Need a new power supply as current ax860 is causing me all sorts of problems, been looking at seasonic prime 850w or the prime 1000w versions.

I have 980 sli oc edition strix cards,4790k cpu,vengance pro ram 2400MHz,

I do tend to upgrade, but will a 850w psu suffice for newer 1080s in sli and new cpus' such as 6700k and will be over clocking

Thanks for all the info , appreciated ;) I am leaning towards the xfx xtr as its geared towards gaming, not sure about superflower as I seen that post about the guy having issues getting a rma.

I would take the Bitfenix Whisper over the XFX XTR as it's cheaper with a longer warranty and it's a more up to date platform. Don't get me wrong, the XFX XTR is a good psu, I wouldn't have suggested it else, it's just that it's been around for a while now and the Seasonic KM3 platform that it is based on has been around for several years. If you were interested in the Superflowers but are put off by that warranty thread there is always the EVGA versions with the longer warranties. The EVGA G2/G3/P2/T2 psu's are based on the respective Superflower units with a different fan and some other tweaks. The EVGA 550w and 650w G2/G3 have 7 year warranties but all the others have a 10 year warranty which gets processed at their UK service centre.

Superflower Leadex Gold = EVGA Supernova G2
Superflower Leadex Gold II = EVGA Supernova G3
Superflower Leadex Platinum = EVGA Supernova P2
Superflower Leadex Titanium = EVGA Supernova T2

I personally think that these are amongst the very best psu's that you can buy at the moment and the new G3 units have improved even further on the already extremely good G2 units. The downside is that they cost more than the Superflower equivalents.

My basket at Overclockers UK:

Does seem like the better choice the evga supernova g3

Just out of curiosity, what sort of problems are you getting with your ax860 ?

I have the same PSU, and have had some strange things going on with my pc over the last couple of months, and I think its something to do with the PSU.
Hybrid fan mode stopped working,pc stutting down ,reseting, real bad coil whine, been troubleshooting every part in pc and it all points to psu.
