Just opened my wii package - they've fudged my order up a bit and sent me a classic controller instead of a nunchuck. Tbh I'm not sure if this is a bad thing - I was gonna buy a classic controller in a week or two anyway and I wonder if I actually need the two nunchucks? Does wii sports or wii play use the nunchuck controller or is all through the wiimote?

Yeah, if you want to play multiplayer boxing (or any other game that uses the nunchucks and is multiplayer) then you'll need 2.

Well 2 numchuks will only been needed if you want play two player games with someone else. Such Wii boxings on Wii sports but a lot of games only use the Wiimote.

Everything else on Sports apart from boxing doesn't use the nunchuk, so no. Only if you're intent on playing multiplayer boxing or Red Steel will you need another nunchuk.

Along the same vein of this question...

How many players can play the wii sports games at once, and which require each player to have a nunchuk.

Zelda: does it have multiplayer at all?

up to 4 on some Wii Sports games I believe. As above only boxing needs the nunchuk. Zelda is single player.

There are quite a few multiplayer minigames on Super Monkeyball that need the nunchuks.

on a similar note, can you do reasonable multiplayer on Sports with the standard pack (ie 1 wiimote and 1 nunchuck?)

I think so, i beleive you can play multiplayer golf/bowling with the supplied controller, you just have to pass it round :)

In Wii Sports bowling, golf and baseball all have the option for up to 4 players while using only 1 remote, you just have to take it in turns and pass the remote around.

WiiPlay also uses a nunchuck for the tanks game, you'll want to get a second one for 2 player fun!

It uses one, aye, but it's not needed. You can use just the Wiimote (d-pad).

I have 2 for my 2 wiimotes. I'm glad I bought two but often CBA to use them unless they are 100% needed. To some extent I avoid nunchuck games because the cable annoys me and I'm too lazy to plug it in, but sometimes a mate and I like to playa bit of boxing or Red Steel :)

I hear Rayman and some other games need the nunchuck though and are very MP oriented.

i've spent the morning trying to find one within walking distance and there are literally no nunchucks left in stockport, guess i'll have to last over xmas with just the 1, which is a shame as it's probably when i'll do the most multiplayer
